Danbury Music Centre Groups Perform Handel's 'Messiah' DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury Concert Chorus and the Danbury Symphony Orchestra will join forces Saturday to perform Handel's "Messiah" at the First Congregational Church in Danbury. The performance will feature soloists Amy Goldin, soprano; Kirsten Sollek, mezzo-soprano; Nils Neubert, tenor; Joseph Beutel, bass; and conducted by Christine R. Howlett. Holmes Students In Darien Learn First-Hand Lessons About Veterans DARIEN, Conn. -- Holmes Elementary School in Darien recently hosted its Veterans Day assembly. Each year, Holmes School holds a Veterans Day Share by fifth-graders and honors veterans who are friends and family of the students. The fifth-grade class sings patriotic favorites like "God Bless America" and "Anchors Aweigh," and the students read original poems and essays illustrating the contributions of the armed forces. New Canaan Man Finds Success Overcoming Challenges Of Tourette Syndrome NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The Tourette Association of America (TAA) honored the Gnuse family from New Canaan at its Annual Gala on Monday, Nov. 14, at Gotham Hall in New York City. Tom Gnuse is a New Canaan Community Foundation board member who has lived with Tourette motor and vocal tics all his life until finally being diagnosed at the age of 42.
