Mount Vernon Library Offers Program On Gardening In Small Spaces MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The Mount Vernon Public Library will hold the program Gardening in Small Spaces on Tuesday, May 17, in the library's Grace Green Baker Community Room. Krys Mernyk from Cornell Cooperative Extension will discuss maximizing small space for successful gardening. Topics to be covered will include valuable tips and techniques for terrace, patio, balcony and windowsills, as well as growing annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables. Michael E. Takacs, 65, of Poughkeepsie POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Michael E. Takacs, of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, April 10 at home. He was 65. Takacs was born Sept. 18, 1950 in Poughkeepsie. He was the son of June (O'Neill) Takacs and the late Ernest S. Takacs. He was employed by HD Supply Waterworks in Poughkeepsie as a senior estimator and was a local resident all his life. Takacs was a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1968, and was also a graduate of Dutchess Community College. Takacs was a member of the Dutchess Pistol Association.
