WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Here's a look at last week's top stories from around Northern Weschester County. Zachary L. Tokson, of Armonk and a former Scarsdale resident, was arraigned Wednesday on a 14-count indictment following a wrong-way crash on Interstate 684 in Bedford on Dec. 13 in which a Mount Kisco woman was killed. Real estate sales in Westchester County jumped 14 percent in the first quarter compared with last year, according to the first quarter report from the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors. Concordia College President Viji George Will Deliver Commencement Address
BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Concordia College has announced that its outgoing president, Viji George, will be the featured commencement speaker at the college's 135th commencement exercises on Saturday, May 14, in Bronxville. George, who is in his 17th year as president of the college, will end his tenure on June 30. Under his leadership, the college has experienced dramatic enrollment growth along with the addition of many academic programs. Little Ferry Police Athletic League Offering Zumba Classes
LITTLE FERRY, N.J. -- Starting Monday, April 18, the Little Ferry Police Athletic League will offer an eight-week adult Zumba class in the Memorial Middle School gym in Little Ferry. The class will be led by a professional Zumba instructor and is from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays. It will cost $40 for the eight-week class. Lego WeDo, Scratch Software Design Event At Newton's C.H. Booth Library
NEWTON, Conn. -- The C.H. Booth Library in Newton will host a construction lab for Lego WeDo kits and Scratch software Monday, April 25 in the library's meeting room. Participants will work in teams to create interactive machines using Lego WeDo kits and and Scratch software. The program is for Newton residents ages 8-12. WOODLAND PARK, N.J. -- Atlantic Stewardship Bank in Midland Park is preparing for the Charity Run/Walk for Housing Saturday, April 23 at Garret Mountain Reservation in Woodland Park.
