Tarrytown Sees Increase In Phone Scams, Police Warn
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- The Tarrytown Police Department is advising residents to be aware of an increase in phone scams. The department has recently been receiving complaints from some residents about receiving calls from individuals stating that they were the winning recipient of a sweepstakes, usually Publishing Clearing House. The individuals calling will ask residents to send them money, purchase gifts cards or other means of "paying" up front to receive a prize, police said. Rye Neck Students Work Together In Middle School Olympics
MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Students from Rye Neck Middle School recently took part in a number of team-building athletic games and activities during their Middle School Olympics. New Castle Police Help Pedestrians 'Be Seen' By Drivers
NEW CASTLE, N.Y. -- The New Castle Police Department is offering residents free pedestrian safety reflectors to help them be seen and stay safe while walking at night. Walking when it's dark outside can be dangerous. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that 75 percent of pedestrian fatalities occur during hours of darkness. Residents can stop by the New Castle Police Department and pick up a free pedestrian safety reflector.
