Hastings High's Pollard Wins Best Delegate Award At Harvard Model UN HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Hastings High School senior Amelia Pollard won the best delegate award at the 63rd Harvard Model U.N. in her role as a New York Times reporter.The event was held from Jan. 28-31 in Boston. More than 3,000 student delegates from around the world competed. Hastings High School sent 19 students to participate. The four-day HMUN is a simulation event for high school students in international relations. Ridgewood Emergency Service Members Welcome New Ambulance RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Ridgewood Emergency Services has added a new ambulance to its fleet. Chief Tony Lillo announced the department purchased a new 2016 Ford F-450, four-wheel drive, Type I Horton ambulance from VCI Emergency Vehicles. “In accordance with our fleet replacement plan, this new ambulance will replace a 2000 Ford E-450 Type III PL Custom ambulance, one that has been in service for 15 years, well beyond its expected replacement date," Lillo said. Baumann Free Public Library in Woodland Park will have a "Food for Fines" program through February.The library will forgive late fees from patrons if they bring in a food donation. East Rutherford, Carlstadt Cub Scouts Compete In Pinewood Derby EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Pack 51 of Carlstadt and Pack 65 of East Rutherford's cub scouts held their own in the Pinewood Derby on Saturday, Jan. 30.Twenty-nine boys from first- through fifth-grades participated in this annual event. For those unfamiliar with the Pinewood Derby, a scout receives nothing more than a block of wood and four wheels.
