An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. Jersey City Terminates Contract With Liberty Humane Society Citing Performance Concerns After 19 years, Jersey City is terminating its agreement with the Liberty Humane Society to provide animal control services. The termination means LHS must vacate its space at 235 Jersey City Blvd., at midnight on Dec. 31, Irene Borngraeber, the executive director of the Liberty Humane Society said. The city will assume all direct responsibility for its animal control and sheltering program. Two People Killed In Violent Night In Newark: Prosecutors Two different shootings killed two people in Newark on Wednesday, Oct. 18, authorities said. At 7:27 p.m., police responded to a shooting on the 100 block of Dayton Street in Newark and found Rahim Wynn, a 41-year-old Newark resident, suffering from gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Roselle Man Busted With Illegal Handgun: Linden PD A 29-year-old Roselle man was was arrested and charged with having an illegal loaded handgun on Thursday, Oct. 12, Linden police said. At 10 p.m. officers responded to Dill Avenue and Adams Street following the activation of a gunshot detection device, police. Officers saw Wazir Davis walking from the area and attempted to stop him, but Davis ignored them and ran across the street into an apartment building.
