Eastchester MS Students Celebrate National Foreign Language Month
EASTCHESTER, N.Y. -- In honor of National Foreign Language Month, students in Kathy Shay’s Spanish classes at Eastchester Middle School were invited to create and teach a lesson about their family’s culture.This year, Shay had seven volunteers. Throughout the month of March, students were exposed to the language and culture of Japan, Kosovo, Greece, Jamaica and Brazil. Some of Shay’s students were also exposed to Hebrew, German and American Sign Language.

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Seven-year-old Kimora Jackson was honored as a BOCES Student of Distinction at a recent Lakeland Board of Education Meeting on March 17.Jackson, who's a second-grader at the Lincoln Titus Learning Center, was joined by her family, teachers, BOCES administration and BOCES Board members as she received a certificate of recognition and a medal of honor at the award ceremony. Glee Club Visits Nursing Home In Clarkstown
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- The Felix Festa Middle School Glee Club visited the Northern Manor Nursing Home this past Saturday to share their music with residents.The idea to sing for the men and women living in Northern Manor came from the FFMS students and all were involved in planning the trip. The hit of the performance was a medley of Beatles songs. The Glee Club hopes to make many more visits to Northern Manor. Peekskil Foreign Language Week Culminates With Food Festival
PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The Peekskill High School Foreign Language Department recently celebrated its 11th Annual Foreign Language Week by treating students to a variety of culturally influenced activities. The week brought foreign films from France and China and invited students to dress in traditional outfits inspired by their heritage. Briarcliff Students Compose Music Using Cloud-Based Platform

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- The Ridgewood Choral will host its 88th Annual Spring Concert Thursday, April 21 at West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood. Brownie Troop Visits Oradell Fire Department
ORADELL, N.J. -- Brownie Troop 5586 visited the headquarters of the Oradell Volunteer Fire Department recently. The troop took a tour of the fire trucks, learned about basic first aid and practiced calling 911 with a 911 dispatcher, during the March visit. The New Milford Volunteer Ambulance Corp was also on hand to show how a patient is treated during a medical emergency. The Brownie Troop attendees earned their first aid badge.
