Two Arrested In Greenburgh Car Break-In; Third Suspect Sought
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Two suspects are under arrest, and one is still at large, in a car burglary earlier this week, Greenburgh Police said.
An off-duty officer came upon three men breaking into a car in the Beaver Hill section of town around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, police said.
After calling for assistance, the officer and others chased two of the suspects down. The third got away.
Arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, were Troy G. Johnson and Kahlid Anderson, both of the Bronx, police said.
They were sent to Westchester County Jail.

Tops Buying Five Stop & Shop, Hannaford Stores In Hudson Valley
Tops Friendly Markets is buying five supermarkets from Stop & Shop and Hannaford, one of them in Wappingers Falls, the grocery chain announced this week.
Tops already has 165 corporate stores and five supermarkets operated by franchisees in upstate New York, northwestern Pennsylvania and western Vermont.
The five stores it has agreed to buy in Dutchess and Ulster counties are:

Driver Indicted In Crash That Killed Wappingers Falls Native While Walking
WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- The SUV driver who killed a Wappingers Falls native while she was walking in Brooklyn has been indicted on manslaughter and other charges, according to the borough’s district attorney, Ken Thompson.
Marlon Sewell, 39, of Brownsville, drove his 2004 Chevy Suburban onto a busy sidewalk in Fort Greene last December, striking 30-year-old Victoria Nicodemus, her companion, Gerald Toth, 37; and 75-year-old Ida Turner.
Nichodemus was killed while Toth and Turner suffered serious injuries.

Shelton Police Department Adds Two New Officers
SHELTON, CONN. -- Shelton has two new police officers, according to a report by SheltonHerald.com.
Victoria Chapman, 23. a local resident who worked in the department’s records division for several years, and Ray Laudato, 21, of Bridgeport, who currently is studying criminal justice at Sacred Heart University, graduated from the state’s Police Academy last month, the SheltonHerald.com said.
Both are about to complete a mandatory training period and both say they are looking forward to serving the town and keeping its residents safe, the SheltonHerald.com story said.
