An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Inspiring Coach Sees Community Support After Shooting The Montclair community wants to help Coach Butter. Khalid Branch a.ka. Coach Butter was shot in the foot over Mother's Day weekend. A fundraiser has been set up to assist him while he recovers. As of Friday, June 9, almost $4,500 has been raised. "Can't we give him a boost and ease his burden while he's out of commission?" Ed Sheeran Shows Still On At MetLife Stadium A few days of hazardous air quality isn't going to stop Ed Sheeran from performing in New Jersey. MetLife Stadium announced Ed Sheeran's two shows, on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11, will remain on as scheduled. Sheeran is performing at Me Life as part of his +–=÷× Tour (pronounced the Mathematics Tour) with opening acts Khalid and Dylan. This is Sheeran's first shows in the tri-state area since Sept. 2018. Newark Woman Fatally Stabbed: Prosecutors A 66-year-old Newark woman was fatally stabbed on Wednesday afternoon, June 7, authorities said. Police responded to the 200 block of Sunset Avenue and found Annie Gooden suffering from apparent stab wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Gooden was pronounced dead at the scene, Stephens and Fragé said. Hudson Sheriff's Officer Busted With Child Porn: Prosecutor A Hudson County Sheriff's Officer was arrested on child porn charges, authorities said. William Medina arrested and charged with possessing child sex abuse material on Thursday, June 8, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Keen-Eyed Officer Spots Linden Porch Pirates: Police Two men were arrested after an off-duty Linden police officer saw them steal packages on Wednesday afternoon, June 7, authorities said. Changzhu Lu, 42 and Tung Wong, 57, both Brooklyn residents were spotted by the officer picking up a package from a porch of a home on the 1700 block of Dill Avenue, police said. Longtime Jersey City Educator, Teaching Advocate Bob Cecchini Dies Bob Cecchini, a passionate advocate for teaching and for his fellow educators, died Monday, May 29. He was 72 years old. A Jersey City native, Cecchini taught special education for 35 years, his obituary reads. His work for the teachers' union was just one area where Cecchini made his mark. Community Rallies Around Ailing Essex County Police Officer Johnnie Rodriguez is in for the fight of his life. Rodriguez, a police officer with the Essex County Department Of Corrections was diagnosed with POEMS syndrome and myeloma cancer in Oct. 2022. POEMS syndrome is a rare blood disorder that damages nerves and affects other parts of the body, according to the Mayo Clinic.
