An (almost) lifelong Westchester resident, Sam has reported on all facets of Westchester since he graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in print journalism, including stints at North County News and The Examiner. A film columnist for WAG Magazine, Sam's moviegoing expertise has been profiled in the New York Times and he was a featured guest on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.

Teenager Arrested Trying To Steal Car From Ford Dealership: Secaucus PD An 18-year-old from Pennsylvania was arrested for trying to steal a car from Meadowlands Ford on Monday, Aug. 28, authorities said. At 7:30 p.m., police responded to the dealership at 330 County Avenue and found Xazier Valle, who matched the description of the car thief, Chief Dennis Miller said. Police pursued Valle on foot after he tried to run from officers and were soon able to apprehend him and take him into custody, Miller said. Valle was charged with criminal attempt to commit theft and was issued a complaint summons, Miller said.

Frank Pawlowski, Former Bayonne Police Chief Dies, 80 Frank Pawlowski, who served as Bayonne Police Chief from 1997 to 2004, died on Monday, Aug. 28 at the age of 80, Mayor Jimmy Davis announced. Pawlowski was born and raised in Bayonne, helping his father run Pop's Corner, which was known for its roast beef sandwiches, according to his obituary. After serving in the Army, Pawlowski joined the Bayonne Police Department, where he served for almost 40 years, Davis said. Newark Man Burglarized Schools, Church: Police A 50-year-old Newark man was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 31, for breaking into two charter schools, a church, a pain management institute and a city traffic facility in July and August, authorities said. Jmarkus Baker broke into the Newton Street School twice in July, stealing power tools, folding chairs and several tents, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Two Knives, One Firearm, Three Hoboken Residents Arrested Three Hoboken residents were arrested and charged after police spotted them with multiple weapons during a melee on Wednesday, Aug. 30, authorities said. At 5 p.m., numerous officers responded to Fourth and Harrison streets on reports of a man with a firearm and a woman with a knife, Marci Rubin, senior public information assistant for the Department of Public Safety said. Bloomfield Woman, 21, Killed In Jersey City Tractor Trailer Crash (Update) A 21-year-old Bloomfield woman was killed in a crash between a tractor trailer and car early Friday morning, Sept. 1 in Jersey City, authorities said. At 2:15 a.m., Jersey City police responded to the crash in the area of the Routes 1 and 9 North ramp on Route 139 West, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
