DWI Truck Driver Hit Car, Fled Scene, Gave Cops False Info: Hackettstown PD A 27-year-old Mansfield Township man was arrested after a hit-and-run DWI crash in Hackettstown on Sunday, March 2, authorities said. Arrest Made In Deadly Neptune City Stabbing: Prosecutor A 28-year-old Ocean Township resident was arrested and charged on Monday, March 10 with a fatally stabbing a man in Neptune City last week, authorities said. Zhahiem Spann is charged with murder in the first degree and multiple weapons offenses, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago and Neptune City Police Department Chief Matthew Quagliato said. Two Men Fatally Beat Man Who Was Found Behind Building: Hudson County Prosecutor Two men were recently charged with fatally beating a man to death last November in Union City, authorities said. At 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov 14, Union City police found Reynaldo Gonzalez, 56, behind a building on 23rd Street, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Officer Hospitalized After Crashing Car While Responding To Burglary: Kenilworth PD A police officer in Kenilworth was hospitalized after they got into a car crash while responding to a call on Saturday, March 8, authorities said. Cops ID 22-Year-Old Killed In Crash On Garden State Parkway In Toms River: Njsp A 22-year-old Manahawkin man was killed in a crash on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River on the morning of Sunday, March 9, authorities said. At 11:34 a.m., John DeLuca was driving a Buick SUV southbound on the Garden State Parkway when it ran off the road and struck multiple trees, Charles Marchan, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Newark Teen Dies After Collapsing Playing Basketball At YMCA: Police A 17-year-old Newark boy died on Saturday, March 8, after he collapsed while playing basketball at a YMCA, authorities said. At 2:48 p.m., firefighters responded to the YMCA at Kenneth Gibson Blvd and found the 17-year-old unresponsive inside the second floor gymnasium, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. The teen had been playing basketball before collapsing, Miranda said. He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:13 p.m. following a cardiac event, authorities said.
