Ridgefield Man Finishes Second In Maritime Aquarium Lighthouse Contest
RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- Ridgefield resident Brett Almstead's “fiery” Polynesian lighthouse was the second-place winner in the 14th annual “Festival of Lighthouses Contest” at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk. Almstead took home $750 for receiving the second-most votes from aquarium visitors for his entry, “Tiki Island Lighthouse.” Almstead has entered the contest several times, taking home the fifth-place prize in 2007. Kiwanis Club Funds Uniforms, Safety Gear For Fairfield Police Explorers
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Kiwanis Club of Fairfield recognized and made a charitable contribution of $500 to the Fairfield Police Explorers for their assistance at several events during the year that the Kiwanis Club hosted. Clarkstown South HS Senior Grace Chesterman Receives Philanthropy Award
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Clarkstown South High School senior Grace Chesterman was recognized in November with the "Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy 2015" award by the Rockland Development Council.Chesterman was a leader in establishing the Youth United Way Club at South and later planned fundraisers to benefit the organization. In addition, she orchestrates a dress drive each year for underprivileged teens in the county. The Rockland Development Council is a nonprofit association of fundraising professionals from 45 registered nonprofit agencies in Rockland County.
